Picnic

Will you picnic on my grave when I'm gone
Set up the foldable table
Cover it with red gingham
Sit around it
Chatter and chow
Or will you cover my grave with the tattered blanket
The one reserved for outdoor expeditions
Lounge on it
Smelling memories
Leaning on one elbow munching
Be sure to bring my favorites
Bagels and lox
A latte and chocolate croissant
Perhaps some caramel corn
And when you celebrate my birthday
Please bring chocolate cake with white frosting
For I am sure I'll be able to taste it
Though please have patience
My digestion functions have changed perhaps for the better
I do not put on poundage with each bite
And when the outing concludes
Clean up well
Leave no crumbs
As the night denizens come sniffing around
Snarling and tussling over remainders
Disturbing my eternal rest
